On Monday the 14th May, Year 6 went on an exciting trip with Mr and Mrs Brown to the Houses of Parliament. We went on the train to London Victoria at the start of our journey. The train journey took around an hour and it was a good chance to talk about what we wanted to happen during the day.

First, our tour guide, Phillip, showed us around the public chamber, The House of Lords and The House of Commons. He told us about the different carpets used for different people (eg Blue for the Queen) and the 24-carat gold, stolen from Wales, making the throne in the House of Lords. He also showed us statues of famous prime ministers.

After our tour,  we had a meeting with Helen Whately, the MP for Faversham, and asked her some questions. They were mainly about the main government problems like Brexit, but we also asked about why she wanted to become a MP. She was very determined in her work, so we were very lucky to meet her. We had lunch in Parliament Square, and walked back to the train station. We had a great day and enjoyed the awesome trip. Thank you Mr Brown!
