Nursery

Our lovely Nursery for three and four year olds is a warm, friendly, calm and caring setting for your child to learn, grow and make friends. With a maximum of sixteen children per session and two full-time, highly qualified and experienced staff, your child will receive the best care and education as they start their journey towards Reception. We value each child as an individual and provide stimulating activities, resources and experiences that allow everyone to learn, develop, and grow in a meaningful way.

Teaching and Learning in Nursery

In Nursery, we are proud to be an integral part of the whole school community, embracing the Lorenden values: ‘We care, we share, we strive, we succeed.’

Our bright and cheerful classroom, alongside our large and inviting garden, provides two exciting environments for children to explore throughout the day. We promote independence and understand the importance of creating an organised and engaging space where children can confidently access resources on their own. Whether selecting activities from the shelves or helping their teachers prepare the garden for the day, children are encouraged to make choices and take responsibility within their learning environment.

We believe that child-centred learning, combined with a strong emphasis on emotional and social development, fosters self-confidence, high self-esteem, meaningful friendships, and independence. This approach empowers children to embrace challenges and builds a strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Communication with parents is extremely important to us. We value the opportunity to greet you at the beginning and end of each day and to share in your child’s experiences. We also use an online learning journal, Tapestry, which allows you to view photos and updates showcasing all the fun and learning taking place during your child’s busy Nursery day. In addition, you will receive a detailed written report twice a year, covering the areas of the Early Years Curriculum.
