On Wednesday 11th September 2019 Lorenden went to a triangular tournament at Spring Grove.

First we played Spring Grove, they lost the toss and we got kick off. We started well passing the ball until Spring Grove tackled us and started to drive up the pitch with some good passing. That kept happening until finally they scored leaving the score 1-0 at half time.

After our break and team talk we started with a strong start but, unfortunately, Spring Grove managed to find a gap and score 2 more goals. When we found out we had 5minutes left we put all our effort into the game. We got an attack after 5 great passes, Arthur got into space on the left hand side and got a great little tap in. With 3 minutes to go, I passed over the top of a defender to Joey who had a one on one with the goalkeeper, he stayed calm to go round him and tap it into the open net. Unfortunately, as we started to dominate and looked to score the equaliser the final whistle blew.

After having half an hour rest we played Ashford Prep, we got the kick off and wanting to start better than the previous game we started passing well. We were able to get to the Ashford goal with ease but despite all of our great passing Ashford’s defence cleared the ball. The ball fell to me and I was able to score a volley from the halfway line. After 5 minutes Tom was awarded a free kick and Mr Waitt asked Joey to take it, he gave him advice and his strike found its way through a crowd of players and scored. After half time we had great effort but unluckily for us Ashford scored making the score 2-1 to Lorenden.

Gilbert was the man of the match for organising the defence and defending well even though this was a new position for him. Well done Gilbert and well done team
