On Tuesday 13th November, Year 5 went to Kent College for a secondary school experience day.

First of all we visited the farm (it smelt of cow pat!) where we did lots of activities like holding chicken, holding the guinea pigs (who were called Wellybob and Ginger), milking goats, feeding cows and brushing horses and much more. After we had a yummy biscuit and a refreshing drink we started a lovely walk to the equestrian where we made up a new sport called welly jumping. We all had a go at leaping over horse hurdles - it was very hard!

After that we went back on the clean Kent College bus to the Senior School. When we arrived we went to have a Chemistry lesson. The teacher was great fun and the experiments were fascinating. Some people could even go up and help him with the experiment.

Then we went to lunch hall to have a yummy lunch of sausage and mash. Then we went to cookery where we iced cakes and were even allowed to put faces on them (Mia had jumbo cupcakes).  In French we learnt a song in French.  We then had some biscuits and squash and made our way back to Lorenden.

First we set off at 9:15am to go to the farm. We were all separated because they had two minibuses. When we arrived at the farm we met a lady called Michele. She took us inside the farmhouse where there were: chicken, a pony, three goats and cows - there was also a dog called Tinkerbell (Tinker for short). Outside there were not only sheep, cows, and a bull, but also bunnies and guinea pigs. We were allowed into the pen with the horse and goats and got to pet them.   We were also shown how to milk a goat!  Lottie and Mia were allowed to weigh and mix the powdered milk for the calves and some people bottle fed them.  After that we were able to stroke the sheep, pick up and carry a chicken and hold some guinea pigs.

We went to the cricket club where we had a snack and still water (in a cardboard carton not a plastic bottle).  When we had finished our snack we set off for the equestrian and on our way one of the big cows escaped and ran straight at us (Gracie was so scared) luckily the farmer stopped it.  At the equestrian we did welly boot jumping (that means jumping in welly boots) and lots of people fell over! Sadly it was the end of the farm trip and we made our way to the Senior School. Our first lesson was Chemistry which was fun. We mixed different chemicals together. After Chemistry it was time for lunch which was sausages and mash with peas and gravy and pudding was lemon cake. After lunch we went to Food Technology for cupcake decorating which was fun because I got to decorate 7 cupcakes (it was based on faces).

Next was French, which was fun, followed by Games. We played hockey and cricket. In hockey we had to control the ball and dodge other people in the class and in cricket we had to get ten points to win. At the end we went into the tuck shop and had a drink, sandwiches and biscuits.

On our way back home on the minibus we were able to open our goodie bags.  We had a lovely day.
